Wednesday, August 8th, a united effort between the Avenger Iron Man and a Justice League member known as Green Lantern, saved a charity event for the New York City boys and girls clubs that was held at The Player's Club on Fifth Avenue.
A band of criminals lead by Michael Turner attempted to sneak into the club just down the street from the Avengers Mansion to steal the attendees jewelry and personal items to sell on the blackmarket. They held the entire party at gunpoint, including none other than Tony Stark, who was attending of a guest speaker on the benefits of mentoring the younger generation.
Not to the surprise of many New Yorkers, Iron Man responded to the hostage situation by crashing through a large window and bringing down many of the criminals. What was perhaps surprising though is the obvious joint effort with the Justice Leaguer Green Lantern. Party goers reportedly stated that the Green Lantern created a green wall of protection that looked like light that protected them from the chaos caused during the fight.
As a result, there were no injuries, all stolen goods were returned, and only minor property damage to a window, a table, and some plates and glasses. Furthermore, though the charity event was cut short after the police finished their questioning, it was report to have been a successful fundraiser for New York City's future.
