|DC/Marvel: Age of Infinite Heroes|
Mary Marvel is the superheroine Defender of Justice, and like her fellow Shazam-powered hero, Captain Marvel, she holds the title of 'World's Most Powerful Mortal.' when she calls out the word 'Shazam!' and transforms!
Mary Batson is a normal High school teenager that worries about her grades, boys and more.
Mary Batson is the sister of Billy Batson, whose parents were archaeologists. They passed away at an archaeological dig, and was killed by their associate, Theo Adam. Mary was to be adopted by Adam, but Adam's sister learned what he had done and forged Adoption papers to have Mary adopted by Nick and Nora Bromfield. For years after, she lived an ideallic life with a wealthy family but dreamed of a brother she never knew.
Years later, Mary Bromfield was saved a few times by Captain Marvel, whom she doesn't know is her brother, Billy Batson. Eventually, she's found by Shazam, the wizard that powers Billy's Captain Marvel form. Bringing her former favorite toy, Tawky Tawny, to life, the toy tracks her down and, when Billy is in trouble, instructs her to say the wizard's name, Shazam....empowering her to also become Captain Marvel. She'd find out that Billy Batson was her brother, and she'd change her name to Mary Batson. Eventually, she'd also change her name to Mary Marvel, since it would be incredibly confusing for there to be two Captain Marvels.
Mary is a high school student that is the top of her class in grades. So she's quite smart. because of this, instead of cussing, she tends to invent new words instead of using curse words. Innocent is another word to describe her because of her inventing new words rather than curse. This is also part of her still being in high school as Mary Batson. She's also willing to help out as best as she can, and she is quite responsible with using the Captain Marvel power. She doesn't use that power unless she really really needs it, and she keeps that as a closely guarded secret. As Mary Marvel, she uses her powers to protect innocent people and will step in front of others if they are under fire, and will fight for what she thinks is right.
